Professional Compliance

The Free Months End. $149 a Year Starts.

For $99 a year, get a Mississippi agent with a registered address on file, same-day scanning of legal documents, and compliance reminders before state deadlines.

Who is talking: Mississippi Registered Agent.co, a $99-a-year registered agent service that wants Bizee's Mississippi customers. That is the bias and it is not subtle. The Bizee terms below are a different category of claim entirely. They are that company's own published offer from a July 2026 check, written down as found.

Free Months Are Free Months

We are not going to sneer at this. If you are forming an LLC anyway, Bizee's packages include registered agent coverage at no extra cost, three months on the cheaper tiers and up to a full year on the better ones. Your Mississippi entity needs an agent from the moment the Certificate of Formation is accepted, and Bizee covers that requirement during the exact window when a new company has the least cash to spare.

That is a real benefit. The complaint on this page starts after it.

Then the Clock Runs Out

When the included stretch ends, standalone service begins at $149 a year. And here is the trap, which is boring rather than sinister: three months and twelve months both get called "free," they expire on wildly different dates, and nothing in the transaction makes it Bizee's job to remind you which package you bought. Fourteen months into a business that budgeted zero for this line, a charge shows up.

Fifty dollars a year is not going to change your life. Ten years of operating and it is five hundred, which is a real invoice.

$99 a year, and the renewal notice says $99 too. Papers served at our Mississippi office get scanned to your portal and emailed the same business day, because a lawsuit response deadline starts running at service. Our address sits on your public record instead of your home address. State mail touching your entity gets flagged. April 15 shows up on your reminders. One plan, no upsell page.

And the hedge we owe you: BetterLegal advertises $90, which is below our $99, so "cheapest in Mississippi" is not ours to claim. Among the lowest flat annual rates here, holding steady every year, scanning included rather than billed separately. That is the accurate sentence.

Replacing Bizee as Your Mississippi Registered Agent

Start with the thing that makes Mississippi different from wherever your last set of instructions came from: this state does not have a change-of-agent form. Not a hard-to-find one, not a paper-only one. It does not exist. Business filings run through the Secretary of State's online portal at corp.sos.ms.gov, paper was phased out around the time the system launched, and the agency's business FAQ states directly that agent changes are handled as amendments instead.

So the transaction is an amendment to your entity record. The state's fee schedule prices it at $10 under the code F0010, and it goes to the Business Services Division. F0010 labels the filing type inside the portal; it is not a document anybody downloads. When a national vendor's Mississippi help article tells you to "submit the change form," that article was written for another state and dropped in here without a second look.

The order of operations is where the actual risk lives, and it comes out of a simple constraint: you cannot appoint an agent who has not agreed to take the job, so your replacement has to be signed up before the amendment can name anybody. That gives you a fixed sequence. Retain the new agent. File the amendment and pay the ten dollars. Watch the state's business search until the record shows the change. Cancel Bizee at that point and not one minute earlier.

Follow that and there is no gap at all, because Bizee remains the agent on file until Mississippi finishes processing the amendment. Reverse the last two steps and Mississippi's public file will name a provider you have already fired, for however many days the update takes. That is the only genuinely bad outcome available in this process, and it is entirely avoidable. The portal walkthrough is on our change of agent page.

Best timing: do it while the free months are still running. No renewal date breathing down your neck, no charge already posted to argue about, and the state fee is ten dollars whenever you get to it.
